What to expect from a consultation
The initial consultation takes approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on the complexity of the case. During this time we will take a full case history and then examine you in order to identify the cause of your pain. After this we will discuss the diagnosis with you and the plan for management. This will usually involve some form of manual therapy and possibly the prescription of some exercises.
We allow 30 minutes for subsequent treatments. During these sessions we will review your progress and continue the management approach as required on a case by case basis.
What do I need to wear to my appointment?
We advise our patients to wear loose-fitting, casual clothing to appointments. We do provide treatment gowns for your comfort and make you as comfortable as possible. If you are uncomfortable with this please let your Osteopath know.
What we treat?
We treat patients of all ages from children, athletes to the elderly. Obviously the conditions will vary depending on the age group.
Common conditions we treat are;
neck pain
headaches
jaw pain
upper back and shoulder blade pain
shoulder and elbow injuries
low back and hip pain
knee pain injuries
ankle and foot pain
arthritis and other degenerative conditions
We have a particular interest in treating work and sporting injuries including rehabilitation post surgery.
Do I need a referral
You do NOT need a referral as Osteopaths are primary care practitioners, however we do work in conjunction with GPs and Specialist such as Neurosurgeons and Orthopaedic surgeons. We accept referrals for patients with chronic conditions under the Chronic Disease Program (CDM). (You willl need to speak to your GP about this program)
Can I receive treatment if I am pregnant?
Yes you can. Our osteopaths are all trained to safely and effectively treat women throughout their pregnancy.
Do you treat patients under workcover/workcare, TAC and Veterans Affairs?
We are happy to treat patients who have been injured through work or motor vehicle accidents as well as returned service patients. Once the claim is accepted we are a NO GAP provider meaning you are not out of pocket as will invoice directly to the third party so you can concentrate on recovery from your injury.
Please advise upon booking that you have a claim with one of the above bodies.
When you call to make your first appointment please make sure you bring all relevant documentation, your claim number and your insurer's details with you so we can add these to your file.
Can I claim on my private health insurance?
Yes you can. Provided that your cover includes extras, we have HICAPS facilities at the clinic which means that you can receive your private health cover rebate on the spot.
With HCF we participate in the MORE FOR BACKS Program meaning your initial consultation is 100% covered for eligible conditions.
Payment options.
Payment is due at the time of the consultation. We accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa, Mastercard and Amex.
